#planksgiving day eight (my health)

Seriously.  I am so thankful for my health.  I can say that I’m pretty healthy these days and it allows me to do some really amazing things.  Some of my most memorable days involve exciting runs, challenging bike rides and pushing my body to it’s limits.  As long as I’m healthy (and somewhat young), I will continue to expand my boundaries.

These days I’m on a routine of swimming, running, biking and I just introduced some weight training to the mix.  I’ve fiddled around with weights in the past but never quite got the handle of it or felt comfortable with what I was doing.  I’m trying a different approach now and so far I am really enjoying it.

Also I just have to say that I have the perfect dog for being active.  He’s always up for a run and usually wants to run faster and longer than me.  When I’m pulling him on the bike and really struggling (like last weekend’s headwind festival), he judges me with his human eyes and I know that I must push myself more and stop being a baby.  I’ve yet to introduce him to swimming but I have plans to do that in 2018.  Toby, you’re awesome!

I enjoying finding difficult things and working to make them not so difficult.  Swimming is difficult, not so much just the swimming, but swimming correctly.  So, I keep swimming.  Running — not so much.  I enjoy it and can do it for long distances and when necessary, a pretty fast pace.  But last week I was introduced to a whole new way of run training (really just leg strength).  And I hate it.  I hate it so much that I have to make myself do it every week, because the more I hate it, probably the better it is for me.  You stand on a treadmill, leave it turned off, grab the handles and start running, using your strength to push the belt.  The drill is a 30 second sprint but my record is 25 seconds.  I’ll get to 30.

Also, wall sits or whatever those stupid things are called, I hate you.

I’m thankful, ya’ll.  Happy Hump Day!
